Doing a count

A count is no longer a single-pass entry: a sheet you open, fill in over several passes, and validate once the shelf is done.

A count means physically counting the shelf and comparing the result with theoretical stock. A count is no longer a single-pass entry: it's a document you open, fill in over several passes, and validate once the shelf is done.

Choosing what you're counting

Choosing what you're counting: everything, a category, a brand, or alerts only.

The whole shelf, a category, a brand, or just what's on alert. Recounting a brand after its delivery takes ten minutes; counting everything takes a morning. References withdrawn from sale are left out by default: tick if your boxes still contain some.

The count shows while you choose: no one should discover afterwards that they've just opened a two-hundred-line sheet.

Filling in the sheet

  1. At the top: the number of items to count, those already counted, and the discrepancies found so far.
  2. Search for a specific product, or show only what's left to count to pick up where you left off.
  3. One line per item: on one side what the software believes it has, on the other what you actually count. The discrepancy calculates itself.
  4. Save keeps the count to come back to later, as many times as needed — between two clients.
  5. Confirm turns each discrepancy into a dated stock movement: your shelf becomes accurate again, you keep the record of what was missing, and the count can never be changed again.

Counts already done

In progress or validated, over the period of your choice. The in progress counter is the one to watch: a count started and never confirmed corrects nothing at all. The "counted / to count" ratio tells you where you stand; click the number to pick the sheet back up.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pause a count and pick it up again later?

Yes, Save keeps the count to come back to later, as many times as needed, between two clients.

Can an already confirmed count be changed?

No, once Confirm is clicked, the count can never be changed again: each discrepancy has become a dated stock movement. A correction needs a new count.

Do I need to count products withdrawn from sale?

No, they're left out by default. Tick the matching box only if your boxes still contain some.

How do I pick a count back up where I left it?

Show only what's left to count: the sheet then filters to items not yet counted, without going back over the whole shelf.
